Irish Moss also known as carrageen or sea moss is a wonderfully versatile seaweed used for generations as a natural thickener and a nourishing remedy. Air dried and sun bleached to preserve its goodness, it’s virtually tasteless and perfect for thickening soups, stews, sauces, desserts and jellies.
This nutrient rich seaweed can also be applied directly to soothe irritated or inflamed skin, or simmered to create a soothing infusion for coughs and colds. Sustainably hand harvested from the Cornish coastline, it offers a pure, natural way to enhance both your cooking and wellbeing.

Directions:

To thicken soups, stews and sauces: Add a small handful while cooking.

To make a natural gel: Boil a handful in 1 litre of water for 20–30 minutes. Strain and allow to thicken as it cools.

For coughs and colds: Simmer a few sprigs with herbs or spices for 10 minutes, strain and sweeten if desired.

For tea: Prepare as above and add a tea bag of your choice.

For skincare: Apply prepared gel to soothe irritated or inflamed skin.
